👋 Hi, I am Daniel R. Torres Ruiz, a PhD Candidate at the University of Nottingham. I obtained my bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering at the University of Málaga while completing a Higher Professional Training in IT Systems and Network Administration.

While studying for an MSc in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Málaga, I worked as a research assistant in the field of IoT, cloud and edge Computing, distributed deep neural networks , computer vision, and structural health monitoring. At this stage, we published several papers. Subsequently, I pursued an MSc in Neuroscience at the University of Salamanca to gain a deeper understanding of the brain's learning mechanisms.

Following this enriching experience, I worked as a software engineer, NLP researcher in private companies, and a data analyst and engineer at VICOMTECH for Horizon projects and national healthcare, big data, data privacy, and synthetic data-related projects. Additionally, I earned an MBA from the Instituto Europeo de Alta Dirección (IEAD).

Currently, I am engaged in teaching support and pursuing my PhD studies in Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, under the supervision of Rong Qu, Ender Özcan and Daniel Karapetyan. My research focuses on Reinforcement Learning and Evolutionary Algorithms for Combinatorial Optimization Problems. I am interested in the development of new algorithms and methodologies to solve complex problems in different domains, with a special focus on the generalisation of the algorithms to different scenarios.
